Went down to Ohinemutu village here in Rotorua the other morning to take some steamy sunrise shots. The sun never came out from behind the clouds and I was packing up, thinking I had wasted my time, when I met the delightful Maea. She invited me to her home to take some photos of her and showed me around the village. I had a wonderful time, what a treasure she is.

Hi all, as you can see I am well overdue for a new post: weddings, event photography and our book Volcanic Kitchens, come and join us, have been keeping me busy. However I thought I had better put some effort into marketing (not my strong side I must admit). While watching one of those "DIY" marketing webinars, I came across this job title for what was traditionally called Receptionist - 'Director of First Impressions'. My initial thought was brilliant! ('Yeah Right').
Variances on the theme could also be;
                                            Receptionist for a funeral home is now called; "Director of Final Impressions"
                                            Receptionist for Alzheimers Society is now called; "Director of Forgotten Impressions"
                                            or for my receptionist, "Director of Lasting Impressions"

We haven't posted anything for awhile, it has been a busy year - finishing our book Volcanic Kitchens among other projects. The last job for 2011 was for Te Arawa Fisheries, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The carved panels in the meeting room are over 100 years old and made for an awesome backdrop for their corporate portraits. Promise to post more frequently in 2012, wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

A good, albeit, freezing cold day rafting down the Kaituna River. We all had alot of fun with only one tipped out (guess who?) and one 'nearly' broken nose - next time lets do it on a hot day in summer.

Paul Mercurio and Charles Royal at Whakarewarewa

Charles and I worked together many years ago at Air New Zeland Flight Catering. He invited me along to take still images of himself and Paul Mercurio while they were filming the cooking show Mercurio's Menu, for Australian Televiosn, in Whakarewarewa recently. On the menu was freshly caught Rotoiti rainbow trout served with Maori herbs and vegetables and soda bread. It was a beautiful day in Rotorua, Shannon and staff at Whakarewarewa Thermal Village were great and everyone enjoyed themselves. Click here to view some more images.
